2023 WycB Hybrid Annual convention

Wyoming Council of the Blind
Announcing the Hybrid 2023 Annual Convention

"Challenging Ourselves"

The Wyoming Council of the Blind (WyCB) will hold their annual convention on Saturday September 9 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.  This year’s convention will be a hybrid event, in that some attendees will have the opportunity to meet in person in the Wyoming Independent Living (WIL) conference room at 305 W. 1st St. in Casper.  Those choosing not to meet in person will be able to participate in the convention via Zoom Call.  The invitation and link to this Zoom Call will be provided after receipt of a completed registration form and fee.  Those attending in person will be responsible for their own lunch.  Ordering information will be available.  Attendees will be treated to light refreshments, gift bags, and raffle drawings.

All those who wish to attend will be asked to complete the enclosed registration form and send it, along with the reasonable fee of $20.00 to our Treasurer’s address shown on this form no later than September 2nd.

The theme for this year’s convention is “Challenging Ourselves.”  To this end, each of the presentations will explore and encourage attendees to embrace new ideas and to think outside the lines as they confront the numerous and seemingly daunting challenges of being blind or visually impaired in today’s society.  The Program for our day-long gathering is enclosed.

The convention will conclude with our Annual Membership Business Meeting per our by-laws.  President Cheryl Godley will conduct this meeting, which will include an annual financial report, minutes from last year’s Membership Meeting, and reports from the chairs of the various standing WyCB committees.  We will also be electing some new Officers and Board members.  (Note:  We are always looking for new candidates to serve on the Board.  If you are so inclined or you would like to nominate a willing someone, please convey your thoughts to President Godley at:
(307) 629-1916 prior to September 2nd).

We will again have an open post-convention discussion after the final raffle drawing and adjournment.  This will provide an opportunity to critique the convention and entertain any helpful suggestions on how we may improve it in the future.

If you have any questions or comments prior to this upcoming convention, please feel free to contact us at the phone number shown above.

We look forward to getting together and sharing the day with all of you once again.
